RGS Achieves 2nd Place Nationally

We are delighted to report that according to the BBC students at The Rochester Grammar School achieved the 2nd best results in the country in last year’s GCSE examinations. Over 70% of grades last year were A* or A and all students achieved 5 A*-C including English and Maths. This is a fantastic achievement by the students and is a credit to their hard work and perseverance in their studies as well as the outstanding levels of teaching and support they receive from their teachers on a daily basis. Well done!

Executive Principal’s Welcome

Dear Visitor,

We are very proud of our school: our mission is to "further excellence through support, encouragement and achievement". We nurture habits of excellence in all aspects of school life – academic, creative, sporting and in responsible behaviour. This is why RGS is a happy, caring and exceptionally successful school.

You will see that we are truly a 21st Century school, concerned not just with what our students learn, but with how they learn, and how they grow in confidence, independence and critical thinking. Since our foundation in 1888, we have been committed to a pioneering curriculum, broadening opportunities for learners to access the most prestigious universities and the best careers. We continue to be at the leading edge of education. Our unique curriculum has accelerated opportunities at KS3 and KS4, IB Diploma and A Levels. We are also a leading Thinking Foundation School with Exeter University, driving our passion for learning. We are also recognised as a centre of excellence for choral work which has developed from our combined specialist status of Mathematics/ICT and Music. Added to this as a National Support School the DFE has recognised our strengths and capacity to support other schools, which we currently do.

As an Ofsted outstanding rated school, we have taken the opportunity to convert to Academy status. We believe this suits our vision of autonomy and excellence for all; we are currently working collaboratively with other schools, who share our vision of high expectations for all learners.

Yours sincerely
