Pupils participating in an ICT lesson

Information Communication Technology

“Provision for ICT is excellent. There is a high quality of teaching throughout the school, examples of outstanding practice, exemplary tracking and monitoring, excellent achievement and high expectation” – OfSTED

It is estimated that over 95% of all employed people have to work with computers in some form.  So it is important that our students not only develop IT skills but also the ability to develop appropriate systems that can be used in the workplace.  In our last Ofsted inspection “the use of ICT to promote learning was a main strength of the school”.

Students in Key Stage 3 and 4 are encouraged to develop their ICT capability to the full and all students study either for the GCSE full course or A/S course.

The sixth form students study A/S and A2 ICT.  The courses provide an insight into the significance and relevance of computers, applications and communications.  Advanced ICT skills are valued in virtually all areas of business, society and university life.

Industrial links are important to IT and cc4g and GoforIT enhance the learning and activities for our students.

“ICT opens up many opportunities providing skills that are useful throughout other subjects I am taking.” – Naomi
